Long input is a spec you can check before paying: the context window. A 40-page contract is roughly 20,000 tokens, a 300-page book around 150,000 — anything under 200K will drop sections without telling you, and the summary will read fine, which is what makes it dangerous.
Second, test recall rather than summarisation. Ask a question whose answer sits on page 60 and see whether the answer cites the right section. Summaries hide retrieval failures; specific questions expose them in one round.
Start with the one that already has a free tier covering your volume, then check the context column: long document work usually breaks on input size before it breaks on model quality. If two of them look equal, pick the one whose paid tier you'd actually renew, because that's the one you'll keep using after the novelty wears off.
Everything else — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok — is on the main comparison table; they show up here only if their own documentation frames them that way.
